Mel Gibson’s father, Hutton Gibson, and Gibson’s step-mother, Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson, are getting divorced. As part of the litigation, Teddy has requested the judge to award her attorney’s fees from Mel. She claims that Mel persuaded Hutton to initiate the divorce, that he kicked her out of the marital residence, and he has been funding Hutton’s attorney fees.
Currently she estimates that her attorney’s fees will be around $65,000. She’s already spent about $30,000. Hutton counters that Teddy doesn’t need her attorney’s fees to be funded because she has more than adequate money to cover them.
She is also requesting approximately $15,000 per month in spousal maintenance.
The court has set a hearing in August to review the issue.
