Lenda Henderson and Roland Davis got married in Tennessee while they were teenagers. They had 4 children together. In 1964, after 20 years of marriage, they got divorced.

Davis remarried, but the two never lost touch. In fact Henderson was known to advise Davis’ new wife on how to deal with him. When his second wife passed away, Davis moved to Colorado.

It was then that Johnnie Mae Funderbirk, one of Henderson and Davis’ children, convinced Davis to move back to New York and reconnect with Henderson. Once he made the decision to move back, he proposed to Henderson over the phone. She said yes.

On the flight from Colorado to New York, Davis kept the engagement ring pinned to his shirt to ensure that he wouldn’t lose it. A wedding ceremony is set on August 4th in New York.
